Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Claude Project Downloader ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information we handle and how your data is processed when you use the Claude Project Downloader Chrome Extension (the "Extension").

2. Data Collection and Handling

We believe in data minimization and user privacy. All core file processing—including intercepting, converting, zipping, and downloading project files—happens entirely locally within your browser. This file content never leaves your device.

The Extension is free to use. Exporting files and chats works without paying anything, and it stays that way — there is no trial that expires. An optional Pro upgrade, monthly or one-time, removes the free tier's limits; it is bought through Freemius, and the current price is shown on our pricing page.

The payment itself happens on Freemius' own pages. Your card details are handled entirely by them and are never seen, transmitted, or stored by the Extension or by us. To switch Pro on afterwards, the Extension transmits only a key and a randomly generated installation identifier to our own licensing server. Keys issued during the period when checkout ran through BuyMeMomo, and the licenses bought briefly through Dodo Payments in July 2026, remain valid and are honored by that same server.

Our website counts how its own pages are used — the home page, the pricing page, the thank-you page after checkout, the plan-management, cancellation and uninstall pages. Each step records an anonymous event on our licensing server (Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine): which page, which button or offer (for example "monthly plan clicked" or "reason: too expensive"), which free-tier limit or extension version brought you there if the Extension opened the page, and a random visit identifier kept in your browser's localStorage that resets after 30 minutes of inactivity. That is how we learn which pages and offers work. No cookies are set, no third-party analytics or advertising scripts run, and nothing you type — your email, licence key or written feedback — is included in these events. Events are kept for about three months. None of this happens inside the Extension.

3. Required Permissions

• activeTab:

  Query the active Claude tab to retrieve the project file list when the icon is clicked.

• downloads:

  Save generated ZIP/individual files to the device.

• storage:

  Store your licence key, your Pro status, the free-tier counters, your backup schedule, when your last backup ran, and your folders, locally on the device. The search index lives in the Extension’s own local database on the device.

• alarms:

  Run the automatic backups you switch on (daily or weekly), and re-check a Pro licence key about once a day so a cancelled subscription stops.

• offscreen:

  Build a “Back up everything” ZIP in a hidden extension page, so a backup keeps running after you close the side panel. The ZIP is built in your browser and saved to your Downloads folder; it is never uploaded anywhere.

• scripting:

  Re-inject the Extension's own content script into an already-open Claude tab after an update or reload, so you don't have to refresh the page manually, and run the bulk Move and Delete actions you choose inside that tab. It is only ever used on claude.ai.

• host_permissions: https://claude.ai/*:

  Read your projects, chats, files, and Claude usage-limit figures from your own signed-in Claude session — to export them, back them up, file and search them, move or delete the chats you select, and show the usage meter. This data is processed in your browser only and is never sent to us or anyone else.

4. Third-Party Services

Freemius is the checkout and license provider for the Pro upgrade. The purchase itself happens on Freemius' own pages; the Extension never handles your payment details. Where a key was issued by Freemius, that key is checked against the Freemius API solely to confirm it is valid. See the Freemius Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare hosts our licensing server. It receives your key and a randomly generated installation identifier when perks are switched on or re-checked, and stores them only for that purpose. It also stores a shortened, one-way hash of your IP address to rate-limit abuse; that value cannot be turned back into your IP. It never receives your Claude data, your downloads, or your Claude account details. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Resend delivers email, and is used for exactly one thing: if you ask us to email you a backup copy of your key, your address is passed to Resend to send that single message. Your address is not stored afterwards, is never added to a mailing list, and is never used for marketing. If you don't ask for a backup, no email address is ever collected. Dodo Payments issued licenses for a short period in July 2026 and is no longer used, and BuyMeMomo handled checkout between versions 1.9 and 1.11 and is no longer used either — since version 1.14 the Extension has no permission for that domain. The Extension does not contact either service, and no data is sent to them. Keys from both periods remain valid and are honored by our own licensing server.

Additionally, the Extension interacts with Anthropic's claude.ai web interface to function. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's own privacy policy and terms.

5. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update our privacy policy from time to time if the functionality of the Extension changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
